Okay, I'm not sure what all I got to tell you on the last blog so this one may be
repetitive but whatever....what else do you have to be doing...right?
So let me start from last Saturday. I got a call from they Keys, the piano bar downtown. I had filled out an application last week but they were only looking for a waitress so I didn't even think much about it. But Saturday I was lying in bed reading Twilight (my next blog will be about that book) and my phone rang at 5:45 pm. It was the owner from the keys asking if I was still interested in working. I still hadn't heard from anyone so I said sure. She then asked if I could come in that night...............WOW....um, okay! So I went in a little nervous
cuz I had only been in there to fill out an application. Turns out to be a very cool place. Everyone there was really nice and warm and made me feel like family. I got to learn my way around the bar and by the time I felt comfortable, we got busy. And I didn't train anymore, I worked. Just kinda faked what I didn't know to make it seem like I did. It worked! (Fake it till you make it!!!) I ended up getting a full split so I made $175 on my first night! Pretty sweet! The place is a little on the unorganized side. Really laid back, maybe too laid back but I won't complain. The only thing I do have to complain about is that I think I may get only one or two shifts per week. Boo!
So yesterday Skip's (the place I really wanted) called to tell me to show up last night at 7 to train as a waitress. Cool.... I only have one shift at The Keys on Saturday so I can do that. I
dont really want to waitress but I do need more that one or 2 shifts a week. So I agreed to come in at 7. Well.....at 4:30 The Keys called and they were in a jam and needed a bartender.... What to do??? What to do???
Here was my decision making process: I had already committed to Skip's that I would go train. But training meant a guaranteed NO money and I was training to waitress....ugh! And I knew he was only willing to give one or 2 shifts a week as well. And at The Keys, it would be slow, but I would have the place to myself and look good because I was called last minute and made myself available...and I would make more money.....so I took that. After telling the truth to Skip's they said I could come and train the next day.....then they called me back and said to forget it
cuz I took another job and they didn't want someone who flip flopped. I wasn't sure if I did the right thing at first, but I think I just got a real good look at what my boss would be like there.... and I hate working for tyrants. So the way I see it, Skip's wasn't meant to be. And I accept that.
I made $10.00 last night at The Keys. I had one customer. But I made more than my sales. Sales were $7 and he tipped $10!!! So I only made $10 bucks but....I enjoyed myself. I can sit down, watch
tv, smoke, and read my book. So I finished Twilight last night and got to leave at 10. I'm going to have to figure something out with the job thing, because I need about 3 or 4 shifts a week..... I'm going to hunt some more on Monday. Something good will happen.
We sold my washer and dryer. It was an apartment sized one. Put it on
craigslist and it sold the first day for $300! So that helps out quite a bit! And Tony had a serious inquiry on his truck today so if we get that sold we will be in much better shape! We are currently selling his truck and my dirt bike....with those 2 things gone, I would only need to work one or 2 shifts a week. So keep your ears open for anyone looking for either of those....let me know if you need details.
What else could I tell you about??? Guess everything else is going pretty good. I get my new seat put in my car tomorrow. We don't have plans for this weekend. I have to work
Saturday night and we have church on Sunday. And next week we are back on Tony's regular work schedule....(insert happy face) so I can get some ME time!
Next blog will be about the book I just read.... I encourage you ALL to go get it!
