So I had my first interview today at Logans. Went in and had a good interview with the guy. I could tell he was impressed. But after we talked for a few minutes he told me that I could only expect 30 to 40 bucks per shift..........WHAT??? I might be spoiled or I might be a brat, but I am worth more than 30 bucks a day! I am over qualified for that....which I think he picked up on. He told me that he didn't think I would be happy there and considering my experience that I needed to try a few other places and he actually suggested some places to go. He told me that he thinks I would be an excellent addition to their team, but that I wouldn't be happy and we both would have wasted our time. I felt like it was an excellent interview and I admire him for being honest and not wasting my time... so that was that. I didn't really want to work at another restaurant anyway....
So I had another interview at Skip's. Skip's is my first choice for a job around here. This is why. I went in a few days before Tony got home because I thought Allison would be working. (she's the one I met and we have texted quite a bit...she's nice and my only "girlfriend" so far) But I got there and it was busy and she had already left. And it was really busy, no room at the bar. So I stood for a minute and was about to leave and a man came up to me and asked me if I was looking for someone....I told him my situation and he said she had left but that I should stay anyway. I declined and said that there was nowhere at the bar....so he walked up to the bar, cleared me a spot and got me a drink. And then introduced himself as part owner. Made me feel like home and like my business was important. I sat there and I fell in love with the place. It has an Irish feel to it and it's not too big and not too small and very clean and organized. The bartenders were able to free pour (which is not common around here, usually they have to use a shot glass to measure....that takes too much time!) and everyone seemed happy and not stuck up. At the time that I visited there I wasn't even thinking about working at a bar but now that I am, I knew it was where I wanted to be.
So I called Allyson yesterday and went in to fill out the app. And got an interview set up for 3 today. I had a wonderful 30 minute interview with Skip himself where he gave me his background and his vision for his establishment. He has military background and seemed to take those skills into this business. He started as a bartender back in his younger days and he's really down to earth. I liked him and I think he liked me too. He said he would be calling tomorrow to set up a meet and greet with his wife and he would like to bring me on. I'm sure he could tell how happy I was.... I might have told him too. Only thing I'm not too sure about is that he can't give but 2 or 3 shifts per week.... which I think I need more.... but it will work itself out.
Interestingly enough, while I was talking to him, the TreeHouse called. Also another bar (the other one that Allyson works at, where I originally met her) so when I got back to my phone I called back and set up an interview tonight at 6! So I might just have 2 jobs??!!! hahaha I'm ready.
Tony is finishing up his first week of learning French. It's tough. We knew it would be. But this job for me will be a good thing because French will consume Tony's life for the next 4 months. So I will need something to keep me busy as well as keep us fed.
Anyway.... other than the job hunting, not much else goin on. I'm excited about starting work. Still bummed about not going home for the holidays but I might just keep myself so busy that I miss the holidays all together! ha

congrats, you over achiever you! they'd be lucky to get you!
If you find some extra time on your hands, I can put you in touch with the local Club Beyond (Military Youth Ministry) guy. They just got a contract at Bragg, and could use some volunteers who love Jesus!
Let me know.

Glad you are doing good honey! We knew this wasn't going to be easy, but you seem to have your eye on the ball, and when you hunker down, things will start happening! You can see the result of that already.
